MyDay-AAC

An AAC app that helps special needs / neurodivergent individuals in understanding the concept of day, month, time and helps them in transitioning between activities during the day.

An individual's day is made up on various significant or routine based activities and activities usually follow an order. eg.,

  • wake up
  • toothbrushing
  • breakfast
  • school
  • home
  • therapy

The premise of this app is to allow the care givers to setup these schedules for individuals and use this app throughout the day to notify the individuals as to what activity they are going to do next. Thus lowering the anxiety of the next unknown event that most individuals go through.

In addition to the learning about their day schedule, individuals can also learn about what is the current, day, date and month along with the time. The top half of the app acts as a dynamic calendar where the day, date, month and time automatically updates. Helping individuals learn about these over a period of time.

A schedue is made of one or more activity/event that would occur in the order that they are added.

In the current version of the app, schedules can only be entered for the current day.

The day is divided into four day phases:

  • morning (between 5am to 12pm),
  • afternoon (from 12pm to 5pm)
  • evening (from 5pm to 8pm)
  • night (from 8pm onwards)

Schedules are created under different phases in the day (morning, afternoon, evening, night).

Users can cycle between the schedules by tapping on the day phase tiles. i.e morning, afternoon, evening, night.
